David GetchesAttorney and Professor David Getches to Participate in Roundtable Discussion

We are pleased to announce that David Getches, Dean of the University of Colorado at Boulder School of Law, will participate in the roundtable discussion on the role of knowledge-based economies in Native communities.

Getches is the Raphael J. Moses Professor of Natural Resource Law at CU Boulder. He is the founding Executive Director of the Native American Rights Fund, a nonprofit that provides legal assistance to Indian tribes, organizations or peoples. Getches developed the staff, program and funding for NARF, which has offices in Colorado and Alaska.

Getches has taught and researched Indian law, environmental law, water law and public land law. As Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources under Governor Richard Lamm, Getches oversaw 10 state government divisions dealing with parks, wildlife, water, land and minerals.

Getches is a graduate of the University of Southern California Law School.
